DESCRIPTION:
APW - Illinois, Sangamo 21J, 16S, 14K HC recase with gold cuvette, rear of case engraved with scene of a hunter shooting at a running buck, relatively modern presentation engraving on cuvette and inside lid, SW-LS, WE-DSD, fully capped lever escapement, 21J, bright spotted pattern NI damascene, s#1745855. Gross weight of assembled watch 72.9 dwt (113.3 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, excellent plus mvt condition overall, few mild MFS, few small oxide specks on winding wheel; dial with edge chip outside 4 mostly covered by bezel, faint outer chapter hl between 7 and 8; excellent hands but with minute hand being mismatched in color to hour hand; case has some shortcomings of fit to this mvt with a small gap between rear side mvt edge and case rim, mvt setting lever sliding underneath the bezel necessitating bezel removal for time setting, and case stem slipping easily out of winding/setting engagement, modern style engraving on cuvette appears to be over the remains of a previously polished off presentation engraving and the current engraving has significantly traced through to the inner surface of the thin cuvette, case shows little wear, typical MFS, no dents or dings, engraving detail with little reduction; bow pivots freely, crown shows light to medium wear and ridge break; clean plastic crystal.
